for grades 5-8
Camp Gesher (bridge)
June 17-July 5
This camp is for campers looking to try an overnight camp experience and are ready to hike, hit the Ropes Course, kayak, rock climb, go boating, roast marshmallows, swim, and play all day and into the night. We're excited to partner with Camp Kalsman outside of Arlington, Washington, for this exciting camp.
The first two weeks of camp will be spent doing team-building exercises, community service projects, field trips, hiking, swimming, relaxing at the beach, and cooking. The third week of camp, campers will travel with SJCC camp staff members and spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at Kalsman, including sleeping in their fully outfitted cabins. Campers will get to experience all this camp can offer, from their Ropes course, lakefront activities, mountain biking, swimming, fireworks extravaganza on the Fourth of July, s'mores at the camp fire, and more! Campers will return to Mercer Island on Friday in time for Shabbat.
This one-week camp provides kids with instruction on pool and beach first aid and safety along with offering CPR and first aid certification. Junior lifeguards learn proper guarding techniques and communication strategies. Senior lifeguards teach campers to use rescue equipment. This camp takes pride in offering a variety of challenging activities in a fun and safe atmosphere. Trips to local pools and beaches are included.
Everyone loves food! During this one-week camp, you'll learn the skills needed to make delicious meals. Travel next door to get fresh produce at the SJCC Kesher Community Garden. Then head back into the fully equipped kitchen at the J and learn valuable chef skills. Our instructors will put an emphasis on nutrition and the importance of food and kitchen safety. Don’t worry sweets lovers – we'll also whip up pastries and sweets.
Trek through nature as you take your new survival skills to the trails and mountains around the Puget Sound. You'll learn some necessary skills to build fires, make an improvised shelter, and survive in the wild. This class is open to all levels of wildernesses knowledge.
