for children entering kindergarten
Camp Katan provides younger campers with a wonderful first camp experience in a program designed just for them. Camp Katan will introduce all the different aspects of SJCC camping to first-time campers.
Campers will explore art, drama, science, nature, sports, music, storytelling, and ruach (spirit). Each three-week session will have the following key components: a theme, weekly field trips, special events, and daily swimming.
In addition, the entire camp comes together for an all-camp Shabbat every Friday. Counselors are mature positive role models with day camp experience. They are sure to emphasize Jewish values, Israeli activities and Judaic programming during the camp day.
Typical Daily Schedule
A typical day at Camp Katan includes creative Jewish programming, arts and crafts, science and nature, sports, games, stories, Israeli activities, and quiet time that give campers a chance to relax with camp friends. We arrange the schedule so Katan campers will have the chance to explore areas of interest in a nurturing and responsive space.
