Kidstown

A town created for before- and after-school fun for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade

Kidstown is a warm and enriching after-school program offering children the nurturing and guidance to complete homework and participate in age-appropriate activities that emphasize physical and emotional growth.

Every day we have something fun:

Active Time: Kids need the option to run around and participate in physical activities after spending long hours in the classroom. Being able to burn off energy helps kids refocus and keeps their minds, bodies and attitudes healthy.

Structured Learning Centers: Kidstown is filled with options for exploration: arts and crafts, reading, dress up/make believe play, game zone, construction area, and sensory table. Having multiple options gives each child the freedom to explore their own interests in a structured environment.

Reading Buddies: This program bridges the gap between the ages in Kidstown, teaches leadership skills to older participants and improves literacy for all ages.

Ongoing Parent Communication: Email, phone calls and monthly newsletters keep parents aware of schedule changes, upcoming events and Kidstown announcements.

Staff: The heart of the SJCC Kidstown program is our dedicated and caring staff. A low child-to-staff ratio ensures each child receives personal attention and guidance during their time at the SJCC. Staff members receive ongoing safety training as well as quality instruction in child development

Jewish Values: We encourage Jewish values such as helping others (tzedakah), welcoming everyone (hachnasat orchom) and respecting others.

Judaics Program: We teach Jewish ideals and holidays through the use of arts and crafts, storytelling, plays, books, and food. We participate in an end-of-the-week Shabbat program that promotes closure and a warm sense of community.
