CIT Program

for teens entering grades 9-10

This program guides teens through the transition from camper to leader. Teens gain a better understanding of their strengths and develop their skills working with groups of children. CITs learn the skills necessary to become effective camp counselors.

The B'nai Brith Youth Organization (BBYO) will co-sponsor the CIT program. BBYO will help facilitate leadership workshops during each session. These workshops will focus on communication, teambuilding and community service. BBYO is known as the largest and most effective provider of identity-building and leadership development programs for Jewish teens.

Our CIT program is built to encourage teens to become role models and leaders in our Jewish community. CIT participants plan programs, lead activities, create projects, teach Judaics, and share responsibilities for a unit of campers. Upon completion, CIT participants will receive a certificate for community service hours.

All prospective CITs will need to complete an interview process before being accepted in the program. CIT-trained teens are not guaranteed placement at SJCC Summer Camp as a counselor the following summer. CITs must commit to a minimum of three weeks equaling one camp session to enroll.
